If you’re a bike rider, you may have longed for having a perfectly working add-on in your bike. Having add-ons is important, but only as long as they do necessary job. Batteries are important in power the add-ons and starting up the engine. At times, we use bike batteries to power-up the jacket heater or cooling box in the bike and also GPS. All of these add-ons consume power directly from the battery. Therefore, the battery must be capable of supplying sufficient amount of current to keep everything electrical powering. Touring bikes are heavily equipped with add-ons and require heavy batteries to power equipment of the bike such as, digital meter, lamps, and other accessories.
Before you have some add-ons in your bike, either consult to someone who has expertise to help you determine the right kind of battery for your bike. Having the right kind of battery is important for your bike, as the add-ons you’re going to install draw the current directly from the battery. Therefore, before you go out searching for new battery for your bike, know the total load electrical load of your bike. Since, not all of the accessories are going to be used simultaneously, but having right capacity is important for a smooth and hassle free experience.
Battery capacity is a single constraint, which ever battery you buy, make sure to keep the checks. Every battery has the factor of wear and tear and it is required to be checked after some time. Using a wet cell lead acid battery would require much more attention than AGM or Gel type battery. As these batteries have low maintenance compared to wet cell battery.
